Group Leader

THE HUNGARIAN CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE FOR MOLECULAR MEDICINE (H-CEMM) HEREBY ANNOUNCES A CALL FOR “H-CEMM RESEARCH GROUP LEADERS

The aim of the call is to find excellent principal investigators (PIs) who want to be a part of something new and ground-breaking called the Hungarian Centre of Excellence for Molecular Medicine (H-CEMM).
H-CEMM focuses on and supports molecular medicine-oriented research activities targeting key, highly prevalent ageing-related non-communicable diseases.

We are searching for Group Leaders to set up and operate their research groups within the H-CEMM to join our current critical mass of 74 researchers in 11 research groups and expand our bandwidth.

You are a dynamic and interactive individual with bold ideas, have an excellent scientific track record, and demonstrated experience and interest in our research strategy and thematic pillars of molecular medicine – see www.hcemm.eu for details. Topics we are particularly interested in are translational research proposals with a clinical background. Translational research with a clinical background, and also research proposals related to co-morbidities (e.g. infectious diseases, including topics related to COVID-19) are also encouraged.

  • SENIOR GROUP LEADER (outstanding PhD and post-doctoral records as well as research achievements in the last 10 years)
  • JUNIOR GROUP LEADER (in general 2-7 years of international research experience after obtaining the PhD degree)
  • TRANSLATIONAL GROUP LEADER (in general 2-7 years of international research experience after obtaining the PhD degree)

WHAT WE OFFER

Successful candidates will be hosted in the state-of-the-art facilities in the nodes operated by the host institutions in Szeged – University of Szeged, Biological Research Centre – or Budapest – Semmelweis University.
An initial contract of 5 years will be offered to successful candidates; this is foreseen to be extended to a maximum of 9 years, subject to an external, independent, international review.

These positions will be affiliated with both the H-CEMM and one of the above-mentioned host institutions. Successful candidates will receive an attractive remuneration package and will be employed by one of the host institutions. Moreover, the selected research groups will benefit from all advantages of the Partnership Agreement signed between H-CEMM and the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL).

ABOUT H-CEMM
H-CEMM is a game-changer organisation which catalyses reforming changes in the research culture and makes an impact in the regional development of Hungarian knowledge regions.

H-CEMM was created by the union of the University of Szeged, the Semmelweis University, Budapest and the Biological Research Centre, Szeged. They were joined by the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) as an advanced scientific partner.

HCEMM is financially supported by the EU Program “H2020-EU.4.a. Teaming of excellent research institutions and low performing RDI regions” under the contract number No. 739593, and co-financed by the Hungarian Government and the Host Institutions.

Notably, H-CEMM is also part of the EMBL Partnership Programme.
