Job Details

The Systems Biology department applies systems biology approaches to the many facets of clinical, translational and basic cancer biology. The department is positioned to take advantage of emerging areas in cancer research and systems biology using an integrative approach across large scale data sets and patient samples. Areas such as genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, epigenomics, single cell biology, synthetic biology, tumor microenvironment and cancer immunology are all active areas of research.

KEY FUNCTIONS

Core Resources
  • Participate in the initiation and development of projects related to the validation of newly identified genomic biomarkers and novel therapeutic targets of gastric cancer and liver cancer:
    • Lead to identification of robust biomarkers for classification of gastric and liver cancer
    • Coordinate with large numbers of materials and data
    • Develop and implement databases to deal with research results
    • Participate in various scientific research projects using new biomarkers and targets.


Scientific Business
  • Assist the PI with scientific business on a daily basis to include:
    • Write and edit manuscripts, abstracts, protocols, and grants
    • Analyze and manipulate research data
    • Prepare and present data for publication or at scientific meetings
    • Maintain current and accurate records of research data
    • Obtain and distribute pertinent research materials/data.


Technique Training
  • Assemble and operate various laboratory equipment and apparatus.
  • Supervise the design, development, or adapting of equipment used in experiments or research to obtain desired results.

Education

Required: PhD in one of the natural sciences or related field or Medical degree.

Preferred: Ph.D. in one of the natural sciences.

Experience

Required: With PhD, no experience required. With Medical degree, two years of experience in experimental or scientific work.
