Postdoctoral Fellowship/Research Associate Position

The Rumbaugh Lab is seeking to fill a postdoctoral position at The Scripps Research Institute located in Jupiter, Florida. One project focuses on how major autism risk factors impact brain function in rodent and human patient iPSC models. Approaches include whole cell patch-clamp, two-photon imaging, and in vivo physiology in behaving animals paired with machine learning measurements of multidimensional behavior. The other project is cell-biology oriented and related to ongoing high-throughput screens for small molecule regulators of genes linked to severe neurodevelopmental disorders. This trainee will focus on the molecular mechanisms of mRNA stability, mRNA translation, and protein degradation of genes that cause monogenic neurodevelopmental disorders. Model organisms include humanized rodents and iPSCs derived from patients with neurodevelopmental disorders. Assays will include microscopy of living neurons and electrophysiology. In both cases, successful candidates will have recently received (or soon will receive) a Ph.D. degree, have a strong publication record and have prior experience with either neuronal cell biology concepts and techniques or systems neuroscience techniques. Computer programming skills (e.g. MatLAB; PYTHON) are desired. Please visit the laboratory website at:
