Postdoctoral Position to study HIV dissemination and latency

Postdoctoral position is available to investigate the molecular mechanisms of HIV dissemination via virological synapses, viral persistence and cure. We are employing molecular virology, humanized mouse models of infection, genetic lineage tracing methods, confocal imaging, and single cell multiomic approaches to understand how HIV spreads from T cell to T cell and how it persists during antiretroviral treatment.  Those with publication record and expertise in virology, genomics, intravital imaging, and/or cellular immunology are particularly encouraged to apply.  Projects will examine the mechanisms of viral spread in vivo and exploit humanized murine models to understand the role of the virological synapse in dissemination and persistence in vivo.  The research tackles the problem of viral persistence and immunopathogenesis and tests new paradigms for understanding HIV dissemination.

The appointment will be at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, in the Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases and in the Immunology Institute.  Experience in virology, confocal imaging, image analysis, molecular biology, mammalian cell biology, protein chemistry, genomics/proteomics is desirable.  Requirements for this post include a strong record of publication and a PhD and/or MD.
