Postdoctoral Scientist: Vascular Biology

The Wu laboratory at Columbia University Medical Center is recruiting a post-doctoral fellow for a currently open position. Among the top tier of the nation's medical schools to receive federal funding, Columbia University Medical Center offers a highly interactive and stimulating academic environment for scientists in training.  We are seeking outstanding, self-motivated scientist who will join an energetic, collaborative and goal-oriented team that studies vascular development and the genetic causes of congenital vascular anomalies. We use a combination conditional genetic models, in vitro culture systems and xenograft models with both engineered and patient derived endothelial cells to understand the genes that regulate vascular development and the genetic causes of congenital vascular anomalies. The Wu lab is currently supported by the DOD, and Foundations. Open research projects include 1) understanding the genetic causes of venous malformations and how genetic mutations influence therapeutic responses to therapy, and 2) understanding the role of endothelial NOTCH3 in the development of vascular malformations. These projects involve in vitro (recombinant DNA, RNA and protein evaluation, use of viral vectors, tissue culture) and in vivo xenograft and transgenic mouse models.

The postdoctoral scientist will work independently under the mentorship of Dr. Wu, and will lead in the experimentation, analysis, presentation and publication of research. They will be encouraged to apply for independent funding and present their research at national and international meetings. Those with a background in molecular biology, developmental biology, vascular biology, and/or genetics are encouraged to apply. Experience using transgenic mouse models and/or CRISPR is preferable.

Interested applicants should email curriculum vitae, brief statement of experience and research interests, and names of three references to jw2@cumc.columbia.edu.
