The department of Pediatrics, division of Neonatology at Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago – Northwestern University (De Plaen Laboratory) is recruiting a highly motivated and outstanding research post-doctoral fellow with preferred expertise in molecular biology to join a dynamic team of researchers. The laboratory is supported by a grant from the National Institute of Health. Our studies focus on 1) defining the impact of inflammation on the neonatal intestinal macrophage compartment, 2) defining the role of innate immunity and microvascular development in the pathogenesis of Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC), a deadly neonatal intestinal disease. Our goal is to design new approaches to prevent NEC. These projects use a neonatal mouse NEC model and require knowledge of techniques such as single cell sequencing technology, flow cytometry, cell sorting, Western blot and PCR.

The De Plaen lab is part of a large core of investigators in the HMI3 (Host-microbial interactions, inflammation and immunity) and is located in the Stanley-Manne Research institute in the new Simpson-Querrey building on the Northwestern Chicago campus in down-town Chicago.

Salary will be at or above the published guidelines of the National Institute of Health. The position is available immediately.

Interested applicants should submit a C.V., a cover letter including a short description of research interests and career goals, and the name and contact information of 3 references to isabelledp@northwestern.edu
