Therapeutic Discovery for Neurodevelopmental Disorders, Postdoctoral Fellowship

Therapeutic Discovery for Neurodevelopmental Disorders

This is a unique opportunity for a postdoctoral fellowship to boost your career and participate in translational research to save children's lives, conveniently located in the warm Miami metropolitan area.

A postdoctoral position is available immediately at the Scripps Research Institute on Jupiter, Florida campus to participate in developing treatments for a devastating neurodevelopmental disorder caused by mutations in the GNAO1 gene with the aim to go into clinical trials within 12 months.

You will be privileged with an opportunity to be a part of the pioneering multinational effort, involving researchers from different countries and institutions working together to develop a novel gene therapy to save and improve the lives of many unfortunate children. The position is supported by the fellowship from the Child’s Cure Genetic Research and CureGNAO1 Foundations.

The project offers a unique opportunity to leverage the state-of-the-art translational capabilities of the Institute to develop innovative pharmaco-genetic strategies for disease correction while participating in basic research on neuronal signaling mechanisms. The laboratory takes a multidisciplinary approach combining genetic mouse models, proteomics, electrophysiology, imaging, and innovative optical sensor technologies to study neuronal signaling and develop corrective strategies for neuropsychiatric disorders.

Please visit the laboratory website at http://www.scripps.edu/martemyanov for more details.

We are looking for a highly-motivated and self-driven individual who wishes to work creatively in an independent setting. Successful candidates will have an extensive research experience as evidenced by a strong publication record.

Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:

(1) molecular genetic approaches to study cellular signaling
(2) neuronal cell cultures and iPS technology,
(3) Animal models of disease
(4) viral transduction approaches
(5) optical reporter assays
(6) experience with AAVs, antisense oligonucleotides and RNAi is a plus

We encourage applications from highly experienced candidates and compensation will commensurate with experience level.

To apply, please send CV, brief description of research interests and contact information of references to Dr. Kirill Martemyanov at kirill@scripps.edu.
