The Azizi Lab (azizilab.com) and Gaublomme Lab (gaublomme-laboratory.org) at Columbia University are jointly seeking an enthusiastic and self-driven Postdoctoral Research Scientist to work on exciting interdisciplinary projects on characterizing heterogeneity of the tumor microenvironment through a combination of statistical machine learning techniques and cutting-edge spatial transcriptomic technologies. The research projects involve both computational and experimental components and candidates are expected to be competent in at least one component with a strong interest in acquiring training in the other.
The Azizi and Gaublomme labs are located in the Columbia morningside campus as well as the medical campus surrounded by a highly dynamic and multidisciplinary research environment with direct access to state-of-the-art microscopy, sequencing, and high performance computing facilities.
The Azizi lab is affiliated with the Biomedical Engineering Department, the Irving Institute for Cancer Dynamics at Columbia University, and the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Gaublomme lab is affiliated with the Biological Sciences Department.
Minimum Degree Required: PhD in Biology, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or other relevant fields.
Minimum Qualifications:
● Publication record in biological or computational sciences
● Strong interest in computational biology and cancer biology
● Highly independent and interested in working with a multidisciplinary team
● Experience with processing and analysis of genomic data
● Strong programming skills in python, R or MATLAB
● Technical skills and coursework in machine learning, data science or statistics
Preferred Qualifications:
● Experience with molecular biology techniques, high-throughput sequencing library preparation
● Previous experience in developing bioinformatics tools or machine learning methods
