The Role:
Moderna is seeking a talented and highly motivated undergraduate senior or master-level student with a background in statistics, mathematics, computer science, engineering, biology or related fields, excellent communication skills, and a deep interest in drug discovery and development. The successful candidate will work closely with a senior statistician and collaborate with biologists, chemists, engineers, and computational scientists on a wide range of research activities across Moderna. These will include rodent/primate animal studies, in vitro assays, high throughput screens, NanoString/proteomics/lipidomics platforms, and Chemistry Manufacturing and Control (CMC) processes.

Here's What You'll Do:
  • Contribute to project tasks from statistics perspective, including study design and sample size determination, authoring/reviewing statistics section in protocols, analyzing data from studies, and presenting statistical analysis to a wide audience
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure rigorous design and appropriate statistical analysis are applied to in vivo pharmacology studies, in vitro studies, and high throughput screens
  • Independently conduct analyses suggested by the data and propose new statistical approaches to improve the efficiency and sensitivity of study results
  • Communicate findings in written records and oral presentations on a regular basis
  • Implement existing data analysis pipelines and analyze a diverse catalogue of data, including genomics proteomics, NanoString, high-throughput screening, and dose-response curves

  • Training (coursework) and experiences in statistical and data analysis, such as linear regression models, analysis of variance, hypothesis, power analysis and effective experimental design.
  • Proficiency in at least one of: R, Python, JMP, SAS
  • Strong written and oral communication skills of conveying statistical concepts and analyses to non-statisticians
  • Curious, eager, open to learning, and independent
