Biologist:
The Center for Immune Aging located within the Intramural Research Program of the National Institute on Aging (NIA, Baltimore, MD) seeks to identify a highly motivated scientist to participate in a multi-disciplinary collaborative study of human immune aging. The selected individual will carry out studies with purified immune cells obtained from human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC), including phenotypic analysis by flow cytometry, epigenetic analyses (chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP), ATAC-Seq and DNA methylation), transcriptomic and proteomic analyses (RNA-Seq, single cell RNA-Seq). The individual will also perform basic cell culture and microscopic studies as needed from progress of project.
The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related discipline; two (2) years of specialized experience plus a Bachelor’s degree is equivalent to a Master’s degree. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in molecular biology, cell culture, genomic technologies and biochemistry. Experience with flow cytometry, confocal and epifluorescence microscopy will be an added advantage. Strong communications skills, both oral and written. Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills.
The successful applicant will be hired in a senior position using the contractor mechanism. Evaluations of candidates will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
