Postdoctoral Associates, EL-DEIRY LAB, Brown University

The EL-DEIRY LABORATORY, also known as the Laboratory of Translational Oncology and Experimental Cancer Therapeutics is a basic and translational cancer biology lab focused on tumor suppressor p53, extrinsic (TRAIL) and mitochondrial cell death pathways, drug discovery and development for cancer, and mechanisms of therapeutic resistance including under hypoxia. The training provides opportunity to develop an independent research project in the area of cell death mechanisms with novel cancer therapeutic agents. Studies will be focused on signaling mechanisms, molecular target validation, interactions with immune agents and mechanisms and use of in vivo mouse models and organoids. We are applying genomics, proteomics, epigenetics, high resolution molecular imaging and single cell technologies to unravel drug targets, interactions and mechanisms. There are opportunities for collaboration within the EL-DEIRY LAB, the Brown/Lifespan Joint Program in Cancer Biology (https://www.brown.edu/academics/biomed/cancer_biology/), the Department of Pathology, and throughout Brown University’s rich academic environment including the Lifespan Cancer Institute and numerous hospitals. There is emphasis on career development, participation in national meetings, communication skills, grant and manuscript writing, interdisciplinary research, and implications of the basic research for biomarkers and treatment of cancer. There are opportunities for clinical and translational research collaborations through lab meetings, cancer research programmatic meetings and Translational Research Disease Groups (TRDGs). The laboratory has access to modern research facilities equipped for cellular and whole animal imaging, genomics, epigenomics, and proteomics, flow cytometry, transgenic animal models, and a translational research infrastructure.

The candidate is expected to have a PhD, MD, or MD/PhD degree in cancer biology, molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry or pharmacology. This is a twelve-month appointment at 100% effort.

Brown University is an EEO/AA employer and invites applications from women and minorities. Interested candidates can apply at apply.interfolio.com/72714 and the following documents should be uploaded: a letter of application, curriculum vitae, and three letters of recommendation addressed to:
