Responsibilities

The Tapscott Lab has an opening for a postdoctoral research associate who has interest and expertise in gene transcription in a chromatin context in normal development and disease, and/or immune modulation in early development or cancer.  The candidate will complement and contribute to the active research program in developmental oncology, which includes studies of the molecular mechanisms of stem cell potential, cell specification, and immune modulation in normal development and disease. Recent work has focused on DUX4 and related factors and their role in establishing early pluripotent stem cell potential and an immune privileged environment in development, cancer, and other diseases. In addition, the lab studies the molecular and genomic regulation of cell specification using myogenesis and neurogenesis as model systems. This position will be compensated generally consistent with the NIH pay scale.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

• Recent MD, DVM, or PhD
• A strong foundation in molecular and cell biology
• Broad knowledge of molecular biology techniques
• Highly motivated and well-organized individual who thinks independently but enjoys working as part of a dynamic and collaborative team
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• A track record of productive research
