The Center for Molecular Medicine and Genetics in the Wayne State University School of Medicine (http://genetics.wayne.edu/) is expanding its high-impact research unit and is seeking outstanding candidates who are pursuing fundamental and/or translational problems in the broad range of disciplines represented in the Center and that would complement existing strengths. Particular foci of interest are human genetics and genomics (including computational biology, functional genomics, population genetics, biomedical informatics, statistical genetics, neurogenetics, complex genetics, clinical genetics, structural variation analysis, disease-related genetics, and genomic medicine) and metabolism (including mitochondrial biology and inflammation) and candidates in those areas will receive first attention.

Our Center has a long history of providing high quality education and pioneering research for medical students, graduate students in our PhD and MS programs, and students in our Genetic Counseling program. A strength of our graduate programs is that, in addition to developing a high level of expertise in a research discipline, our students are required to develop a broad understanding in genetics and genomics technologies and computation.
