The primary role of the Research Scientist (non-laboratory) position is to review and interpret scientific and clinical data from published literature and accessible databases for integration into a Precision Oncology Decision Support (PODS) knowledgebase. This position will support the Institute for Personalized Cancer Therapy (IPCT) Program to bring personalized cancer therapy to the clinic.
KEY FUNCTIONS
Generate annotation content for the PODS and ISPM knowledgebases
Learn and become proficient at generating annotation content for biomarkers, drugs, clinical trials, and levels of evidence for utilization of drugs within specific tumor type and biomarker contexts.
Support collection of molecular data
Supports clinical data abstractors with annotation workflow through data entry and request set-ups when necessary. Assists with the collection and entry of patient specific molecular data within IPCT or ISPM databases.
Support research and system development efforts
Supports research or system development efforts through data collection, entry, and/or standardization
Support updating of standard operating procedures
Assists with the update of SOPs to reflect software enhancements or refinement of annotation procedures
Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION
Required: PhD in one of the natural sciences or related field or Medical degree
Preferred: PhD in Biological Science.
EXPERIENCE
Required: With PhD, no experience required. With Medical degree, two years of experience in experimental or scientific work.
