Job Details
The primary purpose of this Research Assistant II position in Experimental Radiation Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center is to carry out various laboratory research projects in the laboratory of Dr. Mazur , focused on the generation of novel adoptive CAR-T cells immunotherapy using next generation animal models of cancer integrated with Magnetic Resonance and other in vivo imaging modalities.
Technical experience with handing animals (mice) is strongly preferred. The Research Assistant II must be able to provide technical and coordination skills in carrying out various research projects, coordinates procedures, and performs technical laboratory duties in accordance with general and/or specific plans.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Required: Bachelor's degree with major course works in one of the basic sciences.
Preferred: Master's degree.
Experience
Required: Two years of experience in scientific or experimental research work. No experience required with preferred degree.
Preferred: Experience in biochemistry and molecular biology. Experience with handling laboratory animals (mice).

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS
Laboratory Operations
- Manages the day-to-day operational functions in the lab.
- Lab orders, ensures regulatory chemical/waste management compliance, receiving and cataloging supplies, maintaining supply inventory, performs quarterly lab "self" inspections.
Laboratory Organizer
- Maintains accurate inventory of laboratory supplies.
- Organizes and maintains sufficient quantities of tissue culture supplies.
- Accurately enters, analyzes and stores all data in the lab computer.
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of safety procedures.
- Stocks and maintains an up-to-date record of cultured cells.
Laboratory Animal In-Charge
- Manage and maintain the lab's mouse colony by breeding, genotyping, euthanizing animals and performing injections and surgical procedures as needed.
- Perform daily animal care and health check.
- Routine husbandry such as weaning and ear-tagging.
