Academic Surgical Pathologist Assistant/Associate Professor

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine is seeking dynamic academic physician-educators, and -investigators to grow clinical, teaching and creative programs in surgical pathology at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the Clinical (X) or the Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series. Clinical duties will chiefly involve surgical pathology. Teaching duties may include clinical, didactic, and small group teaching of housestaff and medical students, interdisciplinary conferences to housestaff and faculty, and curriculum development in sub-specialty areas. At least one year of experience teaching undergraduates, graduate students, medical students, or housestaff is required. Participation in the research mission of the institution is expected, either as a collaborator or as the intellectual leader of clinically-oriented research projects pertinent to the candidate's areas of expertise and sub-specialty training, depending on academic series chosen for appointment. The ability to maintain a high level of service, work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment, exhibit excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain excellent relationships with medical and technical staff, trainees, and others are required.

Applicants must have an MD or MD/PhD, and be board-eligible or certified in anatomic pathology. California professional license or eligibility for licensure in California is required. Additionally, the successful candidate must have successfully completed a sub-specialty fellowship by July 1, 2020, or have two to five years' experience in a clinical or academic setting that includes clinical care, teaching and research that would meet requirements for appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in one of the University of California's clinically-intensive academic series [Clinical (X) or Health Sciences Clinical Professor series].

Preferred qualifications include head and neck, molecular-anatomic pathology, GYN pathology, GI, lung, neuropathology, and other specialty areas. Expertise in informatics, and/or quality improvement also is preferred.
