The Immunomodulation Research Program at the Institute for Cellular Therapeutics, University of Louisville, KY, is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to participate in several NIH-funded projects focusing on the development of immunomodulatory approaches for tolerance induction to auto and alloantigens with particular focus on Type 1 diabetes (prevention and treatment) and transplantation of cells (bone marrow and mesenchymal stem cells), tissues (pancreatic islets or stem cell-derived beta cells), and solid organs (heart and kidney),.  Immunomodulatory approaches involve the generation of novel ligands to key regulatory immune receptors and their use as soluble biologics or transient and positional display on biologic and nonbiologic surfaces for targeted and localized immune regulation (Immunity 17:795, 2002; J Immunol 187:5901, 2011; Nature Materials 17:732, 2018; Biomaterials 192:271, 2019; Asco Nano ACS Nano, doi: 10.1021/acsnano.9b04651, 2019).

Highly motivated individuals with interest in translational research and extensive expertise in cellular and molecular immunology and rodent manipulations are encouraged to apply.  Expertise with the establishment of humanized mouse models and their use to assess tolerogenic agents will be an added advantage. Applicants need to be self-driven, highly motivated, must have good English language and excellent time-management skills, and have the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
