Assistant / Associate Professor DOQ (02357F)

The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Utah seeks applicants for a tenure-line Assistant or Associate Professor position. We are specifically interested in applicants involved in cardiovascular pharmacology. The ideal applicant will have an outstanding research program focused on the elucidation and validation of mechanisms underlying pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases, with an emphasis on the identification of novel therapeutic targets. At the Assistant Professor level, applicants will be expected to develop and sustain an independent, extramurally funded research program as well as teach in the College of Pharmacy PharmD and PhD programs. Applicants to be considered for an Associate Professor appointment must also have a record of sustained extramural research, excellence in teaching graduate and professional pharmacy/medical students, as well as strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Ideally, the applicant’s research will complement existing departmental research expertise in pulmonary, cardiovascular, metabolic, or neuropsychiatric diseases, cancer, precision medicine, toxicology and drug-discovery. The University of Utah is ideally suited to support cutting-edge research in the field of cardiovascular functions at the basic and translational levels, with a vibrant and collaborative atmosphere and state-of-the-art healthcare and research facilities.

The College of Pharmacy and the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology is integrated with the University of Utah Hospitals and Clinics and Intermountain Healthcare Primary Children’s Hospital, facilitating research involving human cohorts. The College is in close proximity to the Nora Eccles Harrison Cardiovascular Research and Training Institute and other departments with research in cardiovascular biophysics, physiology and diseases. The University of Utah Health campus also has a variety of research core facilities and unique curated genetic databases to support multi-disciplinary research efforts.
