Assistant Professor

Molecular, Cell and Systems Biology
University of Massachusetts Boston

The Department of Biology at the University of Massachusetts Boston seeks applicants for a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor who studies complex physiological systems or networks, preferably using a systems biology approach to begin September 1, 2020. Specific areas could be pathophysiology, metabolism, hormone or cell signaling, or related topics. The successful applicant is expected to establish an externally funded research program, direct the research of students at the doctoral, masters and undergraduate levels, and interact with a dynamic group of molecular, cell, and developmental biologists. The successful candidate’s lab will be located in the new Integrated Science Complex, which houses the Center for Personalized Cancer Therapy.

Applicants must have a PhD and professional experience in molecular biology, network, and/or systems biology. We welcome candidates who utilize creative experimental approaches including functional genomics, bioinformatics, proteomics, metabolomics, or in-vitro biochemistry. We are particularly interested in those whose research will complement our existing strengths in cell, microbial, and developmental biology. Commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels is expected and those applying innovative pedagogical approaches are encouraged to apply.
