Assistant Professor, Neuroimmunology

The Boston University Departments of Anatomy & Neurobiology and Biology invite applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position in Neuroimmunology starting in fall 2020. This is a joint position between the two departments; the new recruit will have a research laboratory and office space in the Anatomy & Neurobiology Department at the Medical School as well as an office and teaching responsibilities in the Department of Biology at the Charles River Campus. We seek a colleague who uses cutting edge cell and molecular technologies along with integrative, multidisciplinary approaches to study basic and translational neurobiological questions in animal model systems. Potential research interests could include how the immune system functions during normal development, adulthood, aging or disease to maintain brain homeostasis and to ameliorate or exacerbate pathogenesis in disease states such as multiple sclerosis, Down syndrome and Alzheimer’s disease. We are particularly interested in candidates with research interests that synergize with current faculty expertise in immunology and neurobiology. The successful candidate will join a strong and growing interdisciplinary Neuroscience research community at Boston University. Responsibilities include growing a vibrant research program with extramural funding, teaching at the graduate and/or undergraduate levels, and participating in graduate training. Boston University expects excellence in teaching and in research, and is committed to building a culturally, racially, and ethnically diverse scholarly community. The successful candidate will be offered newly renovated laboratory facilities as well as a competitive salary and start-up package.  Review of applications will begin 1 December 2019.
