Assistant/Associate Professor in Virology

New York Medical College

The Department of Microbiology & Immunology at New York Medical College (NYMC) School of Medicine invites applications for a tenure track assistant/associate professor position in Virology.  The candidate’s primary responsibility will be to establish and maintain a high-quality extramurally funded research program.  The candidate will be expected to support the teaching and mentoring mission of the College and participate in service activities of the department/college.

We will consider candidates studying all aspects of virology but particularly interested in applicants studying host-virus interactions, molecular virology, impact on the immune system and vaccine development. We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with a strong record of research accomplishments in virology who will complement the expertise of our existing programs.

Appointment at the Associate Professor rank will require a demonstrated record of accomplishment including strong record of publications and evidence of sustained extramural funding. Opportunities to develop interdisciplinary collaborative research programs exist with other basic and clinical science departments at the College and affiliated health system.

Candidates must have a PhD, MD or equivalent degree and a record of productive post-doctoral training.  Successful candidate will also have an opportunity to be appointed to the faculty of the Graduate School of Basic Medical Sciences. Excellent opportunities exist to mentor and train MS, PhD and MD/PhD students and to participate in teaching or develop graduate courses within the applicant’s area of expertise.

The Department has a highly collaborative and collegial academic faculty with an important footprint in medical education and graduate training, close interactions with our clinical partner, Westchester Medical Center, and other departments, especially the department of pathology.
