Tenure-Track Recruiting in Nutrition and/or Exercise Physiology

Department of Nutrition and Exercise Physiology

University of Missouri

The University of Missouri invites applications for three tenure track faculty positions in nutrition and / or exercise physiology at any level - assistant to full professor. The applicant must have a MD/DO and/or PhD with formal training in Nutrition, Exercise Physiology or a closely related discipline with postdoctoral research experience.  For an associate or full professor, a strong and established track record of external funding is expected.  At the assistant professor level, strong promise of obtaining and sustaining a nationally funded research program is expected.  The NEP department is part of three colleges, College of Human Environmental Sciences, College of Agriculture Food and Natural Resources, and the School of Medicine.  Two of the positions will have their tenure home in the School of Medicine, one will have their tenure home in the College of Human Environmental Sciences.  The recently renovated Gwynn Hall features new research facilities for NEP including new biochemistry wet labs, the MU Nutritional Center for Health (MUNCH) consisting of a research metabolic kitchen, a state of the art teaching kitchen and observational behavior lab.  The metabolic kitchen has the capacity for fully controlled feeding studies for cohorts as large as 50 for in house dining or 150 for pack out studies.  MUNCH is adjacent to MU Physical Activity and Wellness (MU PAW) facility which has 4 human subject rooms, a DXA, BODPOD, PEAPOD, metabolic carts, ultrasound and blood draw and processing facilities.  Additional facilities routinely used by NEP researchers include the Brain Imaging Center where comprehensive full body imaging, fMRI and spectroscopy are performed and the Clinical Research Center, an inpatient metabolic research unit in University Hospital and a full complement of animal facilities and core research facilities  (https://missouri.edu/about/centersinstitutes/research-core.php).  We are seeking investigators that will collaborate and synergize with existing investigators in NEP and across campus and utilize the physical resources recently built.  Strong research areas on campus include obesity, metabolism and cardiovascular diseases. It is expected the faculty will contribute to the educational missions.  Information about the department of Nutrition and Exercise Physiology can be found at the departmental link (http://nep.missouri.edu).

Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.  Competitive salary and start-up funds will be provided to successful candidates.
