The School of Biological Sciences seeks a permanent (tenured)Lecturer in Plant Biology.

Applicants for the position of Lecturer in Plant Biology must hold a PhD in a relevant field. We are interested in candidates with broad research interests in Plant Biology, but also that can contribute to teaching in introductory terrestrial plant biology.

The successful candidate will need to exhibit an established record of, or a substantial potential for, a programme of research in Plant Biology that is innovative and impactful. A strong commitment to effective teaching and to postgraduate supervision is also required.

The School of Biological Sciences provides a research-intense environrment and seeks to deliver a first-class teaching experience. The school presents expertise that spans the full range of contemporary biology, from ecology, marine biology, plant biology, ecological restoration, conservation, systematics, and natural history, to biochemistry, biotechnology, immunology, microbiology, molecular biology, genetics, and biomedical sciences.

The School supports two applied research centres: The Centre for Biodiversity and Restoration Ecology [CBRE] and the Centre for Biodiscovery [CfB].

The research in the School is supported through achieving a high success rate in winning external research funding and scholarships. Its graduates are highly regarded in industry and academia, and many have attained prestigious graduate scholarships internationally.
