Assistant Professor in Systems Biology Related to Environmental Change

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (tenure-track) in SYSTEMS BIOLOGY as it pertains to Environmental Change. We seek candidates whose research addresses any area of systems biology as related to natural or anthropogenic disturbances. 

Qualifications: Minimum qualifications include 1) a Ph.D. in Biology, Ecology, or a related field, 2) demonstrates the ability and plans to obtain external funding to support an active research program, 3) a growing record of scholarship and publication in higher tier journals appropriate to the applicants’ field of study, and 4) demonstrates the potential for excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching.  Preference will be given to applicants having postdoctoral or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to obtain funding to support a vibrant research program in the candidate’s discipline and engage in undergraduate and graduate education by teaching courses in their area of expertise.  The candidate is also expected to participate in relevant regional, national, and international research communities within their discipline.

The candidate is also encouraged to develop interdisciplinary collaborations within and between departments at UNT, including with faculty in the Advanced Environmental Research Institute (AERI; http://aeri.unt.edu).  The candidate should have an interest and participate in our growing undergraduate degree program in ecology (http://biology.unt.edu/undergraduate-programs/ecology-program) and graduate programs in biology (http://biology.unt.edu/graduate-programs), and is expected to help foster their continued growth along with other relevant faculty members through instruction and research.

Salary:  Salary and start-up package are competitive.
