Post-doctoral researcher in Genomics and Gene expression

We are looking for a collegial and motivated researcher to fill a NIH-funded postdoctoral position that will use genetics, genomics, and bioinformatics to elucidate mechanisms of gene expression in intestine. This work builds upon previous research that identified genetic loci affecting intestinal function in mice.      The position is part of a long-term collaboration between the laboratories of Dr. James Fleet (intestinal biology) and Dr. Brian Dilkes (genomics) at Purdue University.     The ideal candidate will have an interest in exploring the basis and consequences of variation on gene expression and combining novel experimental designs to permit genomic analysis of gene expression.

Requirements:   Ability to manage a project to completion and to meet deadlines. Coursework in molecular biology with a clear understanding of genome organization and the foundations of gene regulation.  Experience in the interpretation and execution of computational analysis of sequence data (e.g. via R, Python, Perl) is expected.  Experience with the analysis of genomic data of direct relevance to the project (e.g. allele-specific expression, eQTL, RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq) are a plus.

This is a highly collaborative project, and evidence of working productively in a research group; experience with omic data integration, and some experience in a wet lab are desirable in a candidate.  Researchers interested in expanding from computation to wet-lab experience are welcome as there is potential for the work to include wet-lab experiments.

Please send your application to Dr. Brian Dilkes at bdilkes@purdue.edu.  Your application must include a cover letter describing your interests, expertise, and research goals (~2 pages) and a CV containing the contact information for three references.   Please add the phrase “Genomics postdoc” to the subject line of your email to ensure that it rises to the top of our inbox.
