Postdoctoral Fellowship in Cardiovascular Research
Job Description: A cardiovascular research lab is looking for a postdoctoral fellow and a technician with strong background in molecular biology techniques. Our research is mainly focused on understanding the role of gut microbial metabolites in endothelial and vascular dysfunction and also studying the mechanisms of obesity-induced kidney diseases and hypertension.
Education and experience requirements
Minimum requirements: Ph.D. or Doctoral equivalent in biotechnology, microbiology, pharmacology, biomedical sciences or any relevant field.
Preferred qualifications: Strong background in molecular and cellular biology. The candidate must have some expertise in cell & primary tissue culture, Real-Time PCR, transfection experiments (miRNA and siRNA), flow cytometry, Immunoblotting, co-immunoprecipitation and confocal microscopy. Research experience in cardiovascular, renal physiology, pharmacology and/or immunology research is preferred. Previous experience in handling of transgenic and/or knockout mouse, surgical techniques is highly preferred but not mandatory.
Job Responsibilities
- The postdoctoral fellow will conduct, report and present research in his/her field of study under the supervision of a faculty mentor.
- Will plan and design experiments for research projects and perform research experiments in animal models.
- Will establish and learn new experimental approaches as necessary to complete the aims of research project.
- Responsible for organization of experiment data in a laboratory notebook or electronic data collection system.
- Participate in the writing of scientific abstracts and manuscripts for publication and grant applications.
- Attend and present data at national and international meetings through poster and/or oral presentations.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and perform day-to-day laboratory cleaning and ordering of supplies.
- Assist with chemical inventories.
