Dr. Rui Zhao

University of Colorado School of Medicine

I am seeking a motivated, independent, creative entry level post-doctoral researcher to join my laboratory at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. My lab is interested in understanding the molecular mechanism of pre-mRNA splicing and its role in disease processes, using a combination of structural (cryoEM and crystallography), biochemical, molecular biology, and cell biology approaches. Below are examples of our recent publications:

CryoEM structure of Saccharomyces cerevisiae U1 snRNP offers insight into alternative splicing. Nat Commun. 2017; 8:1035. PMID 29051543.

Structure of the yeast spliceosomal postcatalytic P complex. Science. 2017; 358:1278-1283. PMID 29146870.

A unified mechanism for intron and exon definition and back-splicing. Nature. 2019; 573: 375-380. PMID 31485080.

My lab is located on the University of Colorado Denver Anschutz Medical Campus within the highly collegial Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics and is part of the RNA BioScience Initiative. Denver is a great place to live and to do research. To apply, please send an email with a cover letter summarizing past research accomplishments, research interest, long term plans, and start date availability; CV; and contact information of three references to Rui.Zhao@cuanschutz.edu.
