The Department of Infectious Diseases and Microbiology at the University of Pittsburgh, Graduate School of Public Health invites innovative scientists to apply for a tenure/tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant/associate professor. We are seeking an investigator with a strong record of research accomplishment who will complement and expand on departmental research interests in virology, bacteriology, genetics, and host-microbe interactions, with an emphasis on use of systems biology in solving complex infectious disease problems. The department has state-of-the-art facilities with a highly interactive group of virologists, bacteriologists, immunologists, geneticists, and behavioral public health professionals working to understand basic mechanisms and pathogenesis of HIV; avian influenza, Zika, Rift Valley fever and other emerging viral infections; tuberculosis; immunity and immunotherapy to virus infections; and humanized mouse and nonhuman primate models of infectious disease. We are especially interested in investigators working in the areas of microbiome, microbial drug resistance, viral immunity, and vector-borne diseases.
The successful candidate will teach and mentor graduate students in our three degree programs - Ph.D., M.S., M.P.H. – who have infectious disease interests ranging from fundamental etiology to vaccines and social/behavioral prevention approaches.
