Ⅰ.Introduction to GMU

Guizhou Medical University (GMU) is located in Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou province as well as a summer resort in Southwest China. GMU was established in 1938, originally under the name “National Guiyang Medical University”. It was one of the first nine national medical colleges directly under the then Ministry of Education. Under the leadership of its first dean Li Zongen, a tropical disease expert from Peking Union Medical College (PUMC), a large number of well-known Chinese experts and scholars gathered at National Guiyang Medical College, known as “the Second Union Medical College in China” at that time. In 1950, it changed its name to “Guiyang Medical University”. The Name “Guizhou Medical University” was adopted in 2015. GMU now has 2 first-level doctoral degree authorization units and 1 professional doctoral degree authorization unit. It is the only provincial key university that has a complete medical talents training system offering degrees for Bachelor, Masterand Doctor in Guizhou Province. GMU features in Medical Science, with coordinate development of Science, Social Sciences (Law and Education), Literature, Engineering and Management. It has 1 national key laboratory, 2 key laboratories of the Ministry of Education, 2 national experimental teaching demonstration centers and 7 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers. It also boasts  research platforms of national-level for 2, provincial-level for 25, department-level for 18, and 34 research and innovation teams at all levels.

GMU has undertaken more than 350 national research projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation Program, the National Science and Technology Support Program, the Ministry of Science and Technology Special Fund, the International Science and Technology Cooperation Project for Ministry of Science and Technology, and the National Natural Science Foundation. GMU made a historic breakthrough in 2019 for the National Natural Science Foundation declaration work, in which 80 projects got approval. The quantity is second only to Guizhou University in the province. Moreover, the clinical medicine discipline of GMU has entered the top 1% ranking of ESI worldwide.

GMU has carried out a comprehensive reform of excellent medical talents training under the full support of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College. The reform includes setting up clinical medical innovation class (referred as “Xiehe Class”), characterized by small class enrollment, joint training, and full-time tutor cultivating pattern. GMU has obvious characteristics and outstanding achievements in lots of fields such as endemic diseases research (Fluorosis disease, Arsenic disease), traditional Chinese medicine and ethnic medicine production and research cooperation, pathogenic biology research, stem cell for tissue engineering bio-medicine research, and scientific research achievements transformation.

Ⅱ. Faculty Positions Available in GMU

Excellent experts from domestic and abroad are invited to apply for the faculty positions available in GMU, including Lecturer, Associate Professor, and Full Professor.

Priorities will be given to talents selected as the Recruitment Programme of Global Experts (Thousands Talents Programme), Youth Yangtze River Scholars, Outstanding Technological Youth Talents for National Natural Science Foundation, Selected Persons for Yong Top-notch Talents of "Ten Thousand Plan" (National High-level Talents Special Support Plan), or other outstanding scholars who meet the standards of the talents projects.

Research Disciplines include but not limited to Basic Medical Science, Clinical Medicine, Pharmacy, Public Health and Preventive Medicine.

Ⅲ. Education & Qualifications

The First Level: Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, winners of Supreme State Science and Technology Award,National Award for Natural Science, State Technological  Invention Award, and First Prize of National Scientific and Technological Progress Award (the first accomplisher), and talents for National High-level Personnel of Special Support Program.

The Second Level:Talents who get a senior professional title; doctoral supervisor,; and satisfying one of the following conditions: Distinguished professors or Lecture professors of the Changjiang Scholars Program of China; selected by the Recruitment Programme of Global Experts (Thousands Talents Programme); National High-level Personnel of Special Support Program leading talents; winners of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars; leaders of national key disciplines and key laboratories; academic talents of the “Hundred Talents Program” of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; National Award for Natural Science, National Science and Technology Progress Award, second prize of State Technological Invention Award(the first accomplisher); the first prize winner of the Outstanding Achievements of the Humanities and Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education (the first winner); the special prize winner of the National Teaching Achievement Award (the first winner); winners of National Renowned Teachers.

The Third Level:Talents who get a senior professional title; doctoral supervisor,; and satisfying one of the following conditions: winners of the Recruitment Programme of Global Experts (Thousands Talents Programme); New Century Talents Project candidates of national first or second level; National High-level Personnel of Special Support Program top-notch talents; winners of projects of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars ; winners of entries to National Philosophy Social Sciences Outcomes Library; second prize winners of National Scientific and Technological Progress Award (the first accomplisher); National Outstanding Technical Talents winners; winners of the first prize of the National Teaching Achievement Award (the first winner); first prize winners of provincial and ministerial science and technology (the first accomplisher).

The Fourth Level: Talents who get a doctoral degree with a senior professional title, and has any two of the following conditions: the first or second ranking winner of the first prize for the provincial and ministerial level science and technology award;having undertaken 3 or more major scientific research or educational reform projects as a moderator at the provincial or ministerial level or presided over 2 national or scientific research or educational reform projects as the person in charge in the last three years; having published papers employed by SCI, SSCI, A&HCI EI , ISTP, CSSCI, with total impact factors of 15 points and above, in which one of the impact factors must reach 5 points and above; the Provincial Experts, the special government of the management period, who also enjoy allowance of the State Council, and the winner of the New Century Outstanding Talents of the Ministry of Education.

The Fifth Level: Talents who own a doctoral degree.

Ⅳ. Treatment and Benefits

The First Level: House purchase subsidies, research start-up funds, housing settlement and others negotiable; Salary of 5 million RMB/year.

The Second Level:House purchase subsidies, research start-up funds, housing settlement and others negotiable; Salary of 1.2 million RMB/year.

The Third Level:House purchase subsidies of 0.8 millionRMB; 0.3 million RMB for scientific research funds; 0.1 millionRMB for talents in humanities and social sciences, 2 sets public rental apartments of 60m2which is free for 8 years;Salary of 0.5 million RMB/year.

The Fourth Level:House purchase subsidies of 0.5 million RMB;0.2 million RMB subsidies for scientific research start-up fund in natural sciences;0.1 million RMB subsidies for talents in humanities and social sciences; 1 set public rental house of 60m2which is free for 8 years; Salary of professors’ level for the first 3 years of service.

The Fifth Level: House purchase subsidies of 0.3 million; 0.1 million RMB for scientific research start-up funds; 50 thousandRMBsubsidies for talents in humanities and social sciences;1 set public rental apartment of 60m2which is free for 8 years; Salary of associate professors’ level for the first 3 years of service.

Remarks: a. The service time has to be not less than 8 years; b. The spouse who has a master's degree or above can be arranged a full-time public jobthrough simplified recruitment, others can be recommended to work in GMU. c. The housing subsidy will be offered 70% one-off after entry, and the rest will be issued after passing the performance appraisal; d. Other talent allowances will be provided according to relevant provincial policies. e. The above currency unit is RMB.

Ⅴ. Measures for Talent Introduction

  • Flexible Introduction. The targetedtalents of introduction should be at least the fourth level or above, and should be domestic and foreign experts with well-established academic achievements and has a great influence in a certain discipline or area. The term of the agreement is generally not less than 3 years, and the management of employment is target-oriented. The working hour in school during employment shall not be less than 2 months. The specific content of the agreement shall be determined by the university and the posting unit and also the team or individual to be hired.
  • Full-time Introduction. The service term is not less than 8 years, and the introduction procedure is carried out in accordance with the recruitment requirements and procedures of GMU and Guizhou Province.

Ⅵ.The First International Young Scholars Forum of Guizhou Medical University

The First International Youth Scholars Forum of Guizhou Medical University aims to build a platform for exchanges and cooperation among outstanding young talents at home and abroad. It is to promote exchanges and discussions in the field of international leading-edge science and technology research, toadvance interdisciplinary and academic innovation. The forum also helps to deepen people’s comprehensive understanding of Guiyang and this 80-year-old medical university. Moreover, this forum seeks to bring together and accurately introduce medical talents with lofty ideals who agree with the educational goals, school philosophy, school culture and job demand of Guizhou Medical University.The forum covers medical-related research fields such as basic medicine, clinical medicine, pharmacy, public health and preventive medicine. This forum is held for the first time, given great concern from the provincial government and relevant departments of Guizhou Province. Excellent young scholars at home and abroad are sincerely invited.

Ⅸ.Travel and Accommodation

After receiving the formal invitation letter, the invited scholars should order the air ticket or train ticket by themselves. The university will provide the reimbursement according to relevant standards (aircraft: economy class; high-speed train: second-level seat; normal train: hard sleeper). Please keep relevant bills (air ticket invoice, boarding pass, passport copy, ticket, etc.) and hand over to the conference contact person.
