OPEN RANK TENURE/TENURE TRACK POSITION - DEPARTMENT OF BIOLOGY - STEM CELLS AND TISSUE REGENERATION

The Department of Biology at Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts invites applications for a tenure-track faculty appointment in the field of Stem Cells and Tissue Regeneration. This is an open rank search but candidates at the Assistant Professor Rank are preferred. Highly qualified candidates at the Associate or Full Professor rank will be considered. The anticipated start date is Fall Semester, 2020. The candidate's research should address fundamental processes of stem cells and differentiation, tissue engineering, and/or regeneration. Priority will be placed on candidates with areas of research selected to complement existing departmental strengths in the biology of aging, stem cells and regeneration, cell and developmental biology, biochemistry, molecular microbiology, cancer immunotherapy, and behavioral neuroscience.

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, conducting an independent, externally funded research program, and participating in departmental, college, and university service. Qualified candidates must have experience in, or a demonstrated commitment to, working with diverse student populations and/or in a culturally diverse work and educational environment.

Qualifications:
Applicants must have a PhD in the biological sciences or other closely related discipline prior to the start of the appointment and at least three years of postdoctoral research experience. All applicants should have a strong record of scholarly accomplishment that demonstrates research productivity and the ability to perform cutting edge research. Candidates seeking appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level should have substantial research productivity and a history of grant support and academic service.

Preferred Qualifications:
Priority will be placed on research attributes that complement existing strengths in stem cell biology, stem cell differentiation, tissue regeneration, cancer immunotherapy, and neurobiology, although excellence is of top-most priority. Depending on the research profile and expertise, a joint appointment or affiliation with another department within the University is possible.

The Department of Biology is strongly interdisciplinary, with 20 tenured and tenure-track faculty in Biology and an additional 8 faculty with joint appointments in other departments. The Department administers programs in the College of Science at Northeastern University in Biology, Biochemistry, and Behavioral Neuroscience for 1,200 undergraduates. It hosts 150 students in Ph.D., Masters, and Professional Masters programs. The Department is affiliated with the Antimicrobial Discovery Center, the New England Inflammation and Tissue Protection Institute, and the Marine Science Center in Nahant, Massachusetts.
