Co-op, New Venture Labs

The Role:

This position will work in the New Venture Labs, reporting to a Principal Scientist, Exploratory Biology. The successful candidate will be advancing research on metabolism and its role in liver disease. This position will be involved in developing and running assays to support characterization of mRNAs in a variety of liver cell lines and primary hepatocytes from animal models and will help advance Moderna's mRNA pipeline for treatment of a variety of liver diseases. Biology and Biochemistry-related majors are encouraged to apply. This position will be in Technology Square, Cambridge, MA.

Here's What You'll Do:

• Develop and optimize metabolic assays using Seahorse analyzer or related technologies (equipment training to be provided)
• Utilize tissue culture cell lines and primary cell cultures to evaluate effects of mRNA-encoded proteins on cellular metabolism, particularly focusing on glycolytic and oxidative metabolism
• Analyze metabolism of primary hepatocytes in healthy and diseased states
• Analyze protein and gene expression associated with metabolic changes in cultured cells

• Currently Enrolled Junior or Senior
• Biology or Biochemistry major (or related field) preferred
• Previous co-op or intern laboratory experience preferred.
• Must be curious, eager, open to learning, and independent.
