Research Associate Professor – General Medicine

The University of Chicago: Biological Sciences Division: Department of Medicine

Position Description

The University of Chicago’s Department of Medicine's Section of General Internal Medicine in the Biological Sciences Division is searching for a Research Associate Professor, whose primary activity will be academic research in association with a faculty member or team.  The appointee will best contribute to research projects regarding the organization and delivery of primary care, personalized approaches to managing chronic diseases such as diabetes, and the cost-effectiveness of new care models, treatments, and diagnostic tests.  The appointee will join an outstanding group of researchers who apply state-of-the-art analytic methods to a broad range of research related to chronic diseases, including epidemiology, biostatistics, health services research, implementation science, pragmatic trials, simulation modeling, and cost-effectiveness analyses.  Data sources for the appointee will include national Medicaid and Medicare claims.  The appointee will complement these existing areas of strength, and work across several trans-disciplinary and collaborative units in Chicago working towards improving the prevention and management of chronic disease.  These include the NIH-funded Chicago Center for Diabetes Translation Research and the Center for Chronic Disease Research and Policy.  The appointee will contribute critical analytic expertise to the design, conduct, and interpretation of health services research.  We especially welcome applicants with prior experience with collaborative research and those with an interest in developing methodologic advances.  Prior publication record and contributions to grants will be considered.

Applicants must 1) have a doctoral degree or equivalent in the quantitative social sciences, statistics or biostatistics, public health, biological sciences or related disciplines, 2) have experience working with Medicaid/Medicare claims data, cost-analyses, multi-level statistical analysis, simulation models, and cost-effectiveness analysis, and 3) completed postdoctoral training prior to the start of employment.

To be considered, those interested must apply through The University of Chicago’s Academic Recruitment job board, which uses Interfolio to accept applications: http://apply.interfolio.com/69651.   Applicants must upload: CV including bibliography.
