The Center of Brain Research, Medical University of Vienna, is an internationally leading research institution in neuroscience. The present recruitment notice is from the Department of Neurophysiology headed by Jürgen Sandkühler. The primary focus of the laboratory is on central mechanisms of pain generation, amplification and therapy, see Science, 354 (2016), 1144; Nat Rev Neurosci  15 (2014) 43; Science 335 (2012) 235; Science 325 (2009) 207, Science 312 (2006) 1659.

We offer initially a temporary replacement for one year with prolongation of the contract for additional four years possible. We seek a highly competitive neuroscientists with a PhD degree in a relevant discipline and a strong background in at least one of the following fields:

• optogenetics and pharmacogenetics
• two-photo laser-scanning microscopy
• in vitro and in vivo neurophysiology
• advanced behavioural assays for rodents
