University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST) emerged from the University of Shanghai founded in 1906 and the German Medical and Engineering School set up in 1907. Carrying on its motto of "Integrity, Righteousness, Diligence, Love, Pondering, Learning, Aspiration, Ambition", USST aims to cultivate students with knowledge, ambitions, as well as socialist core values. Adhering to the strategy of "developing in partnership with outstanding faculty", the university now has 1,664 full-time teachers, of which 969 are PhDs and 688 are professors or associate professors of different fields.

To build a high-level local university, USST is building a top international research of Future Optics in School of Optical-Electrical and Computer Engineering (OECE), led by Prof. Songlin Zhuang, a famous optical expert, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and President of China Instrument and Control Society. Closely following the mainstream directions of scientific research, the Future Optics discipline has been engaged in research of innovative optoelectronic technologies, including terahertz science and technology, ultra-precision optical manufacturing, nanophotonics, ultrafast nonlinear optics and medical optics.

The positions will be supervised by Prof. Min Gu. Prof. Min Gu, a foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, is recognized as one of the international authorities and pioneers of the three-dimensional optical imaging theory, and has published more than 500 papers (including Nature, Science and Nature Photonics). Min's group aspires to be a world-class research institution and intellectual destination dedicated to investigations of optical-driven systems, which are inspired by the ideas from nanophotonics for a smarter, greener and safer future.

Position for Postdoctoral Fellows

Position Description:

The positions will involve working with a multi-disciplinary team of physicists, material scientists and industry partners. The expertise includes optical chips, all-optical deep learning, Intelligence materials, supercapacitors and thin film solar cells. Salaries will be competitive at an international level (above $70K USD/yr). A package of fringe benefits includes health and retirement benefits. We provide a stimulating and highly collaborative research environment that is embedded in a network of local, national and international collaborations.

Qualifications:

Applicants should have a doctoral degree in physics, material science, or similar fields. We particularly welcome applications from those with research experiences related to laser physics, holograms, super-resolution imaging, supercapacitors and photovoltaics. Qualified candidates must have less than 3 years of postdoctoral experience and have a record of peer reviewed publications. High level of motivation and independence and the ability to think critically are expected. Candidates must have good written/oral communication skills in English.

To apply:
