The Department of Fisheries Animal and Veterinary Sciences at the University of Rhode Island invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position for the 2020-2021 academic year.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the university’s Animal Science and Wildlife Conservation programs, and provide support to local and global zoos and aquariums.

The successful candidate will be expected to establish an independent, extramurally funded research program in the area of marine mammal/zoo animal physiology and behavior and contribute to the educational mission of the department through teaching of undergraduate and/or graduate courses in animal behavior. The Assistant Professor will be responsible for teaching one to three courses with laboratories per semester within the Animal and Veterinary Sciences Undergraduate Curriculum. The successful candidate will also be expected to conduct research related to their specific field of interest in Animal Sciences, within the scope of facilities and resources available. The successful candidate will advise undergraduates, supervise undergraduate research activities, advise/mentor graduate students, and serve on Departmental Committees as needed. Additional responsibilities include: establish and maintain a strong working relationship with local zoos and aquariums, be involved with co-curricular programs or student clubs and organizations and participate in other activities of the Department of Fisheries, Animal & Veterinary Science and College of the Environment and Life Sciences such as committee service and student recruitment.
