Wang Laboratory of the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center seeks applications for a full time Research Faculty position at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor in the Departments of Pathology and Biomedical Informatics, University of Pittsburgh. The individual will be working on our integrative computational genomics initiatives aimed at identifying pathological genetic aberrations, predictive biomarkers, and therapeutic targets from cancer genomics datasets, as well as developing novel bioinformatics tools and models to predict therapeutic responses of targeted therapies and immunotherapies. The candidate must hold a Ph.D. degree in the Biomedical Sciences. Preference will be given to highly motivated candidates with an outstanding publication record in bioinformatics and cancer research, and those with established expertise in computational genomics, bioinformatics, or biostatistics.

The research topics for this position will include: 1) Develop novel mathematical, statistical, and artificial intelligence models, as well as bioinformatics tools, to predict therapeutic outcome of targeted therapies and immunotherapies based on deep sequencing and single cell sequencing datasets. 2) Perform integrative analysis of deep-sequencing datasets, and integrate these datasets with drug sensitivity and clinical trial datasets to identify predictive biomarkers for targeted therapies and immunotherapies. 3) Catalog pathological genetic alterations in cancer through integrative analysis of whole-genome and transcriptome sequencing datasets. 4) Develop novel computational methods for pathway discovery based on single cell sequencing data.

Wang laboratory is a computational genomics and translational cancer research lab at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, Departments of Pathology and Biomedical Informatics, University of Pittsburgh. The long-term goal of this lab is to apply a multiple disciplinary approach inclusive of computational genomics, bioinformatics, molecular cancer biology, and translational studies to identify viable cancer targets and predictive biomarkers, as well as developing the bioinformatics methods for genomics-based cancer precision medicine.
