Job Details

The Veterinary Medicine and Surgery department exists to serve MD Anderson research programs. Our primary mission is to provide the best possible veterinary care, facilities and services in support of the institutional animal care and use program, in keeping with all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC) accreditation standards.

The primary purpose of the Laboratory Manager position is oversee the transition of selected Department of Veterinary Medicine & Surgery processes to the iLAB system.

Key Functions

iLAB Project Management

Oversee, coordinate, implement, and evaluate the processes associated with transition of selected services to the iLAB system.

Staff Coordination
Arrange meetings associated with the iLAB transition. Work with various sections to ensure the appropriate individuals are included as required.

Data Management

Work with the various sections to ensure that the required information is generated and entered into the iLAB system. Ensure that workflows, funding approvals, and other aspects of the iLAB sites are set up to meet section and departmental needs.

Other duties as assigned.

Education

Required: Bachelor's degree in one of the basic sciences or related field.

Experience

Required: Seven years experience in laboratory operations, including two years in a supervisory capacity.

Preferred: Proficiency in Immunohistochemistry, Histopathology, Pathology and Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop.

Certification

Required: None

Preferred: Histology Technician (HT) (ASCP)
