Non-Tenure Line Assistant Teaching Professor

The Department of Biology of Georgetown University invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track position. We seek an enthusiastic science educator to actively collaborate with current faculty in the development and administration of our core curriculum for undergraduate and graduate students. We are committed to expanding access to a quality education in biology for a more diverse and inclusive population of students – both on our campus and in our local school system. We welcome colleagues who share this commitment. Teaching responsibilities will include general education biology courses and courses for majors and graduate students in the candidate’s area of expertise. Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology, and/or developmental biology. The successful applicant will assume a leadership role in an educational outreach partnership with the DC Public Schools and direct a science pedagogy capstone for majors in our department. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in biology and demonstrated experience and enthusiasm for science education. Applicants should possess excellent writing and speaking skills; be well-organized and able to carry out position duties independently; have the ability to provide individual and group instruction with an awareness of diverse learning styles; be able to train and manage undergraduate and graduate TAs; and be able to teach effectively in lecture and laboratory contexts. The position is a non-tenure line faculty position – a nine-month position primarily involved with instruction. It includes the possibility to teach in our summer school or participate in educational research initiatives for additional compensation.
