An NIH funded post-doctoral position is immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Dmitry Temiakov, at Thomas Jefferson University to study structural aspects of human mitochondrial gene expression (Hillen et al, Cell 2017 171(5)1072; Hillen et al, Cell 2017, 171(5) 1082; Agaronyan et al., Science  2015, 347:6221, Ringel et al, Nature 2011,  478: 269;). The laboratory is located in a newly renovated space of the Department of Biochemistry and has access to core resources for bioimaging, cancer research and structural biology. State-of-the-art Cryo EM facility is available via partnership with Princeton University. The Structural Biology core facility is also in the process of acquiring of an in-house 200 kV Cryo EM microscope.

We seek to hire an outstanding experimentalist with demonstrated experience in protein biochemistry and molecular cloning to study structural aspects of mitochondrial transcription and replication. Knowledge of X-ray crystallography and single particle cryo EM is highly desirable. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biophysics or equivalent: only candidates that have first-author publications in peer-reviewed journals will be considered.
