NIH-funded Postdoctoral Associate position is available to study Tissue Homeostasis and Regeneration in salivary and lacrimal glands in the laboratory of Dr. Catherine Ovitt, Professor in the Department of Biomedical Genetics, in the Center of Oral Biology at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. https://www.urmc.rochester.edu/labs/ovitt.aspx

Current research projects include:  

  • The molecular and cellular basis of radiation damage and radioprotective strategies for the salivary glands;
  • Development of a bioengineered tissue chip for in vitro drug screening of salivary gland cells;
  • Mechanisms and strategies for salivary gland regeneration.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Cell and/or Molecular Biology, and have a strong publication record. Applicants must have working experience in genetics, mouse models, stem cells, developmental biology, and molecular biology, as demonstrated through publications. Applicants must speak English fluently, and have previous training in statistical analysis.
