The Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) is the Nation's Federal Health Sciences University and is committed to excellence in military medicine and public health during peace and war. USUHS services the uniformed services and the Nation as an outstanding academic health sciences center with a worldwide perspective for education research service, and consultation and uniquely relates these activities to military medicine, disaster medicine and military medical readiness.

The position is located in USU Office of the President, Office of the Vice President for Research (VPR). The mission of the VPR is to facilitate, support and manage the research activities of USU.

The Vice President of Research (VPR) develops, facilitates, supports, and manages the research activities of USU. In that capacity, the VPR oversees all matters dealing with intramural research to include all sponsored research programs at USU, as well as all external research and sponsored programs conducted through USU. The VPR is responsible for research administration, compliance, and innovation.  The current USU research portfolio exceeded $217M in fiscal year 2019.
