Job Details

The mission of The University of Texas M. D. The primary purpose of the Data Management Analyst (DMA) position is to support the business processes in AVA-Faculty Academic Affairs (AVA-FAA) department. The DMA is responsible for ensuring systems functional reliability, data integrity, process efficiency and reporting. The DMA will support and assist with the AVA-FAA's annual distribution of the memoranda of appointment (faculty contracts) process.

KEY FUNCTIONS

1. Application Support, Data Management and Reporting (70%)

a.Provide technical and process support to the annual Faculty Contract Process. Take part in the data preparation and data integrity check and processing of faculty contracts. Assist in generating revised contracts.

b.Maintain the integrity and accuracy of data in tenure "truth" database, AdminPost, and other AVA's systems which contains critical data of 2000+ faculty; Perform data entries and updates AVA Central Application Core Tables.

c.Build queries for reporting and assists in providing end user support for analyzing data. Must be able to process data effectively using Microsoft Excel, Access, and Microsoft SQL. Create program scripts and/or macros to increase efficiency.

d.Produce accurate reports; ensures that all deliverables are accurate, complete, contain definitions, sources of data and department identification.

e.Assist in managing the FIS user administration and reporting.

f.Provides technical assistance and/or training to system users.

g.Provide desktop support to department users.

2. Business and System Analysis. (25%)

a.Consults with clients to identify business needs, define system requirements, identify programming and output needs, and verify preliminary design and output.

b.Formulates and recommends technical and procedural design for new or revised applications including flow charts, system specifications and programming guidelines based on user needs and a good understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements.

c.Confers with other data processing personnel in resolving problems involving program intent, input/output requirements and other procedural and technical matters.

d.Reviews and analyzes system problems including system documentation and production output to identify solutions and/or make appropriate referrals.

3.Other duties as assigned. (5%)

Education

Required: Bachelor's degree.

Preferred: Advanced degree in Computer Science, Business or related discipline.

Experience

Required: Two years experience in domain, workflow analysis, design, programming, project management or EHR application related experience. May substitute required education with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.

Preferred: Proficient in creating queries and scripts in MS SQL, Access and Excel for managing data and for reporting.
