Job Description:

The Department of Biological and Physical Sciences at Assumption College invites applications for a full-time Professor of Practice position in Biology to begin August 2020.  Primary teaching responsibilities will be in nutrition and introductory biology.  Additional responsibilities may include anatomy, physiology or genetics.  This is an expansion position that will support a newly opened school of nursing and has the possibility of conversion to a tenure-track position at the end of the first three years of appointment, based enrollments and budgetary considerations.

Requirements:

A Ph.D. is required, with undergraduate teaching experience preferred. We seek a candidate committed to high quality teaching, undergraduate mentoring and advising, with an interest in participating in student-faculty research.  Applicants must be willing to contribute actively to the mission of the College, including its commitment to diversity and inclusion as well as showing respect for the Catholic and Assumptionist identity.

Additional Information:

Assumption College is set in a picturesque section of Worcester, Massachusetts, the second largest city in New England. Worcester is a livable mid-size city, home to nine colleges and universities, a vibrant restaurant scene, and high-quality art museums. Worcester also offers easy access to mountains for hiking and skiing, beaches and shoreline, historical sites, and Boston, with its restaurants, performing arts, sports teams, and art museums. New York City is just over a three-hour drive away.

Application Instructions:

Applicants are encouraged to apply on-line by uploading a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching philosophy, a description of research interests, and the names and contact information for three references who can attest to the applicant's teaching experience and qualifications at www.assumption.edu/hr. In the cover letter, we invite candidates to describe their experiences working with a diverse student body.

Review of candidates will begin November 15, 2019.

Inquiries about the position should be directed to Dr. Brian Niece at bniece@assumption.edu
