Assistant Professor of BioMedical Sciences

Applications are invited for a tenure track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the Division of BioMedical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Memorial University of Newfoundland, St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.

The successful applicant will be expected to develop an active, independent and externally-funded research program in an area of immunology or virology. Applicants are required to have a PhD or MD, postdoctoral research experience, the capacity for and a commitment to excellence in research. Furthermore, the successful applicant is expected to contribute to the medical education curriculum, undergraduate and graduate teaching. Evidence of teaching competence in immunology or virology would be desirable.

Existing strengths within the Division include research in cardiovascular science, cancer and development, immunology and infectious diseases, and neuroscience. The Immunology & Infectious Diseases Program is active in adaptive and innate immunity, virology and viral pathogenesis, as well as tumor immunology and oncolytic viruses. The BioMedical Sciences Division, the Faculty of Medicine and Memorial University offer an attractive research environment, with core scientific services and recently updated facilities including animal care, a fluorescence-activated cell sorting facility, and state-of-the-art technologies in microscopy. Large computational capacity is also available supported by the Atlantic Computing Excellence network (ACEnet).  Collaborative opportunities exist with clinical researchers in Medicine and research groups in the Faculties of Science, Engineering, Computer Sciences and the Ocean Sciences Centre.
