KEY FUNCTIONS - Endoscopy Clinical Nurse
Utilizes the nursing process and nursing standards to anticipate, prevent and manage actual/potential patient problem in the Endoscopy setting.
Identifies and participates in problem identification and resolution for patients, families and team.
Serves as a patient advocate.
Communicate regularly and effectively with MD, Endoscopy Technologists, PSC and leadership members.
Participate in activities to increase and improve knowledge, nursing and Endoscopy skills.
Mentors technical, new and clerical staff.
Carries out charge nurse responsibilities in the absence of Assistant Nurse Manager.
Documents according to MDACC and JCAHO standards.
Reconciles allergy and mediation list as per policy > 95% of time.
Collaborates/Leads unit process improvement projects, and works with staff, to define problem and develop a plan.
Demonstrates competency of endoscopy procedures.
Performs procedures in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner.
Complete documentation requirements accurately and timely.
Identify and communicate problems to Assistant Nurse Manager, PC Nurse Manager and Clinical Administrative Director.
Complies with all policies.
EDUCATION
Required:
Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
EXPERIENCE
Required:
One year of relevant clinical nursing experience.
Preferred:
Minimum of two years RN experience in an acute care setting.
Prior Endoscopy experience.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION
Required:
Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN).
Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
Preferred:
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area.
