MIPT is a leading Russian academic and research center, ranked among the best 100 universities worldwide according to Times Higher Education. Phystech, as it is often called in Russia, trains highly qualified specialists in theoretical and applied physics, mathematics, informatics and computer engineering, chemistry, biology, and other technical and natural sciences.

The success of an MIPT education stems in large part from a set of principles known as the Phystech System, which were formulated by the Institute’s founding fathers, the Nobel laureates Pyotr Kapitsa, Lev Landau, and Nikolay Semenov. The two basic tenets are selecting the most talented applicants and engaging students in real research supervised by outstanding scientists at partner organizations.

MIPT announces an open contest for scientists with experience of work at leading international research centers, with a view to conducting research at the leading MIPT laboratories.

Those winning the contest will be employed at their MIPT laboratory of choice with a guaranteed monthly salary between 120,000 and 150,000 rubles. The contract term ends Dec. 31, 2020, subject to possible extension for a complete term of up to two years.

If necessary, the scientist is guaranteed a place in an MIPT dormitory. The fee for accommodation is charged in accordance with the rector’s order on payment for the use of MIPT dormitories.

The participating researcher can take part in other contests and projects under Project 5-100, subject to their rules. This includes publication activity support for MIPT students and staff, employee participation in conferences and seminars at world-class laboratories, leading foreign universities, research centers, etc.

The contest is open for Russian and foreign scientists with prior work experience of one year or more at leading international research centers. An applicant also needs to hold a PhD or an equivalent/superior degree, such as the Russian candidate/doctor of sciences.

It is not possible to participate for researchers employed by MIPT in the period from Jan. 1, 2017, until the date of the contest announcement. In exceptional cases, applications from staff members may be considered, provided that they have a primary employer other than MIPT.

The winners of the competition are employed by MIPT on a full-time basis in the position of Senior Research Fellow no later than 120 days after the summingup of the competition results.

Contest dates:

Third stage of the contest: Applications are accepted from Oct. 1 until Nov. 30, 2019, 11:59 p.m. Moscow time. The winners will be announced no later than Dec. 30, 2019.
