The Division of Surgical Science at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist. The individual must be highly motivated and productive researcher who can perform independent research associated with assessment of synaptic function and transmission, synaptic vesicle biology, neurophysiology, and brain circuit structure-function analysis. The primary focus of our research is to elucidate cellular and molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration and to develop small molecules for translational research. Candidate must have extensively experience with neurophysiology and electrophysiology and perform patch for pre- and post-synaptic transmission, long-term potentiation in vitro and in vivo animal model, and brain circuit analysis.

Requirement: MD or PhD, experience in Biological Sciences,  at least two-year research experiences in the neurophysiology and electrophysiology and/or cell biology in vitro and in vivo. Strong skills in major biochemistry and cell biology techniques, animal handling, brain injection, primary cultures and quantitative data analysis related to neurophysiology.neurons in vitro and in vivo transgenic mice
