Instructor of Mathematics

The Wilkes Honors College of Florida Atlantic University invites applications for a full-time (9 month) Instructor position in Mathematics beginning Fall 2020. The successful candidate will teach introductory and advanced undergraduate courses, advise undergraduate students, and direct honors theses. Average teaching load is 6 courses per year.

The Wilkes Honors College (WHC), which opened in 1999, is a highly selective liberal arts college within a state university, located on FAU’s MacArthur Campus in the coastal town of Jupiter, Florida. Its four-year curriculum is centered on the traditional disciplines in the liberal arts and sciences, with an emphasis on critical thinking, independent study, community-based internships, and cross-disciplinary programs. Currently, the WHC enrolls about 500 honors students and has 41 full-time honors faculty members. Required qualifications include a Ph.D. in Mathematics or Statistics and evidence of excellence in undergraduate teaching. The committee will view favorably experience with data and/or computer science, mathematical modeling, discrete mathematics, statistics, or other areas that interface with environmental, biological, or social sciences and therefore promise potential for collaboration in the interdisciplinary teaching activities of the college. Experience in advising and mentoring undergraduate students and a commitment to fostering diversity on the campus are also preferred.

Minimum Qualification: 

Ph.D. from accredited institution in Mathematics or Statistics by the time of appointment required.

 

Must have evidence of excellence in undergraduate teaching.
