Beijing Normal University (BNU), as a venerable and dynamic institution, has a long-held tradition of partnering with leading academic institutions from around the world. The Astronomy Department of BNU was founded in 1960. We are the second oldest astronomical department ever to be set up in China's colleges and universities. There are presently 21 full professors, 6 associate professors, 4 lecturers, and more than 200 students in our department. We have made important contributions in astronomical talent training, scientific research, technological innovation, and outreach.

In order to expand our team, we are currently looking for outstanding staff scientists. Applicants should undertake in-depth research and be able to contribute to important scientific achievements. Candidates working in all areas of astronomy, astrophysics, gravitational physics and plasma physics will be considered. 

Applicants should have published several high-quality academic papers, attended important international academic conferences and given invited talks. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to high standard of teaching and student success.

We sincerely welcome established scholars, academic leaders, as well as promising scholars and postdocs who are interested. We will place each successful applicant in an appropriate position according to his/her academic background, research interests and teaching plan, and provide him/her with competitive salary (ranged from 60000-120000 USD per year according to seniority), sufficient start-up fund, necessary laboratory and office space, and other reasonable supports.

In addition, the position is also flexible in terms of time commitments. We offer 3 months, 6 months out of the year, as well as full time position. During the employment, we will evaluate each faculty member’s capacity and potential and provide the best opportunities for vocational development in line with international conventions and common practices.
