Position Summary
A postdoctoral fellowship position is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Utpal Davé within the Indiana University School of Medicine and the IU Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center (Indianapolis, Indiana) to study the biochemistry of LIM domain Only protein 2 (LMO2) and its myriad binding partners. LMO2 is a master regulatory factor in hematopoiesis and its deregulation is a driver in T-cell leukemia. LMO2’s normal and pathogenic roles have been the focus of the Davé laboratory and there are multiple new avenues of research that have recently been uncovered [see Layer et al Molecular and cellular biology 36.3 (2016): 488-506]. Investigations may include the analysis of LMO2 in the context of multisubunit protein complexes that promote hematopoietic stem cell maintenance and transformation to leukemia. The lab has at its disposal, state of the art technologies in biochemistry as well as mouse and human genetics.
